Dear Friends,
The EBF Council and migration conference* gathered in Albania last month and I (Stephen) had the privilege of participating in both. We were warmly welcomed by Albanians and experienced their kind hospitality.
EBF have received an urgent prayer request from the leader of the Baptist Union of Albania Edmond Palucaj which we share with you now for prayer.
Albania is going through one of its most difficult situations since 1997, when the state effectively collapsed.
For over a week, violent protests have been taking place in the capital, Tirana, and they have also spread to other cities. Many of the protesters are university and high school students.
Unfortunately, some protesters have resorted to violence, damaging small businesses, banks, and public institutions. Many state buildings and institutions have been destroyed, and the capital has been in complete chaos for three days.
Please pray for Albania during this difficult time.
1. Pray for the Prime Minister — that he will act responsibly and make the right decisions in this crisis, including stepping down if necessary, as the protesters are demanding.
2. Pray against the spirit of destruction and violence — that peace will be restored and that people will choose dialogue rather than violence.
3. Pray for those organizing the protests — that they will act responsibly, seek peaceful solutions, and consider the consequences of their actions for the country and its people.
Today Albania needs our prayers. Please, let's stand together and pray for our brothers and sisters and for their country.
May the Lord provide wisdom, protection and guidance to all.
With love and prayers,
EBF Team and IBN
