Standing Together This Winter

As we have stepped into December and the season of light and anticipation, there’s much to be thankful for in our region. Yet this winter, our hearts are especially with our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, who face another cold and uncertain season. We invite you to continue standing with them through the Hope Heats Ukraine appeal and through your prayers.

In this Advent time, may these stories in our newsletter renew our sense of unity, compassion, and expectation. Thank you for being part of this journey across the EBF family.

This winter, churches across Ukraine are preparing to serve as warm, safe shelters for their communities. Through our Hope Heats Ukraine Christmas appeal, the EBF aims to raise €1 million to help heat 500 churches during the cold months. Your support can make a direct and tangible impact.

More information

In this season when we especially hold Ukraine in our hearts, we also invite you to read “Hope Rising in Ukraine,” which highlights the faithful ministry of two church planters, Ivan S. and Hennadii V. Their testimonies show how God’s light continues to shine even as winter approaches. Ivan shares the powerful story of Vitaly, whose life was restored after years of addiction through the care and witness of the church. Hennadii tells of Lyudmila, who came to faith after seeing God transform her husband’s life and was joyfully baptised this August.

These stories remind us that hope is still rising in Ukraine — not in easy circumstances, but through the quiet courage and daily faithfulness of God’s people.

EBF celebrates with gratitude the Baptist World Alliance’s appointment of Valérie Duval-Poujol as Ambassador for Standing Against Gender-Based Violence. Valérie is no stranger to our EBF family: she has served as a speaker at SENT, contributed significantly as a former IBTS Board member, and represented us faithfully on the Conference of European Churches (CEC) Governing Board. Her long-standing commitment to justice, theological clarity, and compassionate advocacy makes this appointment especially meaningful for our region.
